Omicron Variant Throws Holiday Travel Up In The Air

Concerns are being raised about the safety of holiday travel this year as the rise of the omicron variant makes its way through the United States.

To try to reduce the spread of the variant, many countries, including the United States have placed added restrictions and bans on travelers.

Most recently, the United States has banned most non-U.S. citizens who have recently been in any of the eight southern African countries from entering its borders.

The Biden administration is requiring all travelers coming into the U.S. to take a COVID-19 test and produce results of a negative test within one day of their departure. This new requirement applies to everyone, regardless of vaccination status or country of citizenship.

These new restrictions are causing a strain on the travel industry with travelers reconsidering their holiday plans.

Experts say that travelers who are immunocompromised should not travel, including people who are over the age of 65.
